Hi Timber wolves,

Mrs. D here; it is very nice to have you visit the Tuscarora Elementary Library Media Center website. Take a few minutes to navigate through the website and become familiar with the many resources for you to explore from your home. On Thursday, October 1st a password book mark will be sent home in the Thursday folder. Please post the book mark on your refrigerator or find a special place near the family computer to keep this valuable information.

My career as a library media specialist is exciting and challenging. Computer technology has removed the walls of the school library media center. You will continue to visit the center while you are at school but now you can search the school cataloghttp://www.youseemore.com/FCPS/school.asp?branch=109 to find a book on your favorite subject without leaving your home. Tuscarora students are computer savvy and they often find records for new books before the boxes for an order are even unpacked. How exciting to know that my students are searching for titles and reserving the books that I order.

On a personal note, my interests include reading children’s literature as well as historical and contemporary adult fiction. My favorite picture book is Best Friends by Stephen Kellogg. I highly recommend the writing of Andrew Clements. My current favorite by this popular children’s author is Lunch Money. I also look forward to reading the sequel to Found by Margaret Peter Haddix. I subscribe to several magazines and read about cooking and gardening on a regular basis. I enjoy kayaking with my husband, daughter and our seven month old puppy “Lila G”. As a family, we visit our cabin in upstate Pennsylvania to kayak and bicycle the Pennsylvania Wilds with our friends and neighbors. Summer always brings travel to a new part of the world. Taking photos of the places I visit is a great way to capture the moments that I enjoy sharing with others.

My library assistant, Mrs. B, is kept busy tracking lost materials and contacting parents with notices. If you have any questions on a notice that you receive please contact Mrs. B at 240-566-0034 or email her at marlene.bordner@fcps.org. We have an open door policy and you are welcome to visit the library media center and check in on one of our classes. Mrs. B works with the Kindergarten students and I have the pleasure of working with students in grades one through five.

We welcome parent volunteers. We have parents who attest to shelving as a form of exercise. I appreciate every parent and grandparent who volunteers time in our beautiful, well stocked media center.    We share photos and stories of our pets and children. We enjoy filling the requests that our students make when they visit the library media center each day. You may contact me at 240-566-0035 or jean.dalinsky@fcps.org if you are interested in volunteering or if you have a question that needs to be addressed.

Remember to read with your child each day and ask them what they like most about the story you share.

Yours Truly,
